Starting out in Dresden
Looking back on 2018
Looking back at my running activities in 2018, a rather embarrassing pattern is visible. Hardly any training, followed by a long run every other weekend. This resulted in a pretty low total mileage of 2000k over the year, of which I spend almost 1000k in races. This doesn't feel like the right approach, and I admit I only run when I feel like it. Maybe some actual training would benefit these long races I enjoy doing?
The streak idea
2019 started with a pretty awesome day out in Sächsische Schweiz with Chloe. I spent the next few days in Dresden as well, and before I knew it, I had run for a staggering number of five days in a row. I'm not sure what triggered it, but the idea of a running streak popped up in my head (did you know the longest streak ever ended after a pretty incredible 19.032 days)? Maybe I should try to run as much subsequent days as I can? Maybe the binary character of a streak could actually make it easier to get the miles in? Maybe I should start with a January challenge and run at least 5k every day? And if I get that far, maybe I can get to 50 days? What about 100? What about the whole year? There are always excuses why not to put on your running shoes and stay inside. But there are always possibilities to get out of the door and get in some fresh air. Let's do this!
